Medilink_MindWellAwardmHabitat has won the Patient Engagement Award at the Medilink Yorkshire and Humber Healthcare Business Awards 2017 for the new website MindWell.

The award, which was presented to the team at a black tie event in Sheffield on 2 March, celebrates a new healthcare ‘device or service’ which was developed through a process of engagement or ‘co-creation’ with patients or service users.

MindWell was launched in October and is now the single ‘go to’ place for people in Leeds, including GPs, clinicians and other professionals, to access to up-to-date information about mental health. The process of creating the site was facilitated by mHabitat and has involved engaging with a wide range of potential users at every stage of development. Open workshops, run by the agency Yoomee who built the site, brought together service users, carers, GPs, clinicians and support workers to create a map of the site’s content, discuss branding and design, produce ‘personas’ to represent the different types of users and develop an appropriate tone of voice.

Alicia Ridout, Deputy Director of mHabitat and Product Owner of MindWell, said: “I am so proud that the team at mHabitat has won this award for MindWell which is now being widely used across the city. We would like to thank everyone who attended a workshop, gave us feedback, took part in user testing or met with us to explain their needs for a new site. It’s your input that has helped us create a website that people really want to use – we couldn’t have created MindWell without you! Work to develop the site will continue over the next 12 months and beyond, so we still need your support.”

MindWell is a city-wide initiative, funded by the NHS, which brings together resources, materials and knowledge from across the NHS in Leeds, Leeds City Council and the third sector.
